What is a Sport Pool?

A sport pool is a swimming pool that is designed specifically for swimming, exercise, and play.  Unlike the typical swimming pools which can be used in conjunction with slides and diving boards, sport pools are customized for shallow water enjoyment activities and games.  They have a depth ranging from 3-1/2 to about 6 feet at the deepest end and could have a much stretched shallow end as compared to the normal swimming pools.  There could also be additional structures attached to the pool, including hoops, backboards, volleyball nets, goal areas, molded chairs and stools, wet bars, and very shallow sunbathing platforms.

Sport pools often have multiple extra enjoyment facilities, as they can be customized to a specific person or family preference and needs.  Sport pools are maintained the same way as traditional swimming pools.  The correct balance of water pH, total alkalinity, calcium hardness, and the use of a sanitizer such as chlorine or bromine all need to be tested and maintained to ensure a healthy swimming environment and prevent damage or premature aging of pool surfaces.
