I just finished all my core articles I wanted to write on how to manage your chlorine, calcium hardness, total alkalinity, and copper.  These, in addition to finishing my series of articles on pool pH, round out a big part of swimming pool water maintenance.  All the articles will live in the Maintaining Your Swimming Pool section of the Pool For Thought website, but here they are in a somewhat organized format:

Managing Total Alkalinity

Total alkalinity is probably the most important water balance level in your swimming pool:

Managing Pool pH

Swimming pool pH is also a water balance measurement, and tends to be difficult to keep constant:

Managing Calcium Hardness

Think soft water is good for your pool?  Think again, as your pool should be a little on the hard water end of the hardness spectrum:

Managing Chlorine Levels

If you have a chlorinated pool, then you have to make sure your chlorine level is high enough, but not too high:

Managing Copper Metal Levels

Cooper in your water?  I’ll show and explain all the ways this metal can enter your swimming pool, and what to do about it:

Now, I am by no means the world’s authority on swimming pool maintenance, but having owned and maintained a swimming pool for the better part of a decade, I have come across plenty of challenges and learned more than I thought I ever would along the way.

What do you think?  Let me know if I need to add more articles on water and chemical balancing your swimming pool, or perhaps create a few summary pages as more of a quick reference.  I have plenty more I could write about, but I would really like to hear your ideas.
